I am merely but a citizen of the earth
free to do as I wish and governed by love and truth.
I am the untamed and feral
which cannot be domesticated or broken,
an essential part of the history of man
yet rebuked and criticized because of my simplicity.
I am peaceful yet just
and will strike without hesitation or remorse
at those without respect or instinct therefore
I am the prejudiced and the persecuted,
the scapegoat for mans shame and fear,
the target for mans hatred.
I am the same beauty which the poets name in their love sonnets,
the same passion which is yearned for by the most noble
and coveted by the rich
yet I cannot be owned and that is why I am hated.
I am as necessary to mans survival as the rain
yet cursed and scorned without regret
but still will I fall to water their crops.
Without judgment I shall walk
but in judgment I am surrounded.
I am the wild beast of love,
the savage fire of romance,
the still waters of satisfaction
and in my palms do the rainbows end.
Still I must walk in silence
for none can hear my voice without shame
and none can hear my song without contempt.
I am merely a citizen of the earth

Eu sunt doar un cetățean al pământului
liber să fac ce vreau și guvernat de iubire și adevăr.
Sunt cel neîmblânzit și sălbatic
care nu poate fi domesticit sau rupt,
o parte esențială a istoriei omului
totuși mustrat și criticat din cauza simplității mele.
Sunt liniștit și totuși drept
și va lovi fără ezitare sau remușcări
la cei fără respect sau instinct deci
Eu sunt cei prejudiciați și persecutați,
țapul ispășitor pentru rușine și frică,
ținta pentru ura omului.
Sunt aceeași frumusețe pe care poeții o numesc în sonetele lor de dragoste,
aceeași pasiune pe care o doresc cei mai nobili
și râvnit de bogați
totuși nu pot fi deținut și de aceea sunt urât.
Sunt la fel de necesar pentru a supraviețui ca ploaia
totuși blestemat și disprețuit fără regret
dar totuși voi cădea să le ud culturile.
Fără judecată voi merge
dar în judecată sunt înconjurat.
Eu sunt fiara sălbatică a iubirii,
focul sălbatic al romantismului,
apele liniștite ale satisfacției
iar în palmele mele curcubeii se termină.
Totuși, trebuie să merg în tăcere
căci nimeni nu-mi poate auzi vocea fără rușine
și nimeni nu-mi poate asculta cântecul fără dispreț.
Sunt doar un cetățean al pământului
iar pământului voi rămâne adevărat.
