After living in Nanaimo I had enough of the city and moved to a small island off the coast in between Vancouver Island and the Mainland, and on Gabriola ended up writing and performing quite a bit, influencing the youth and others in a way that really was good for the community. During this time I also performed at Canada’s Got Talent and got into the first round before being booted by Martin Short. I played my flute for the song Symphony One. He said it was too breathy. I mentioned I thought we were friends, why would he do that to me. He gonged me and said that it was supposed to be a symphony but he just heard a flute. I said if he doesn’t gong me again I can get the Canadian Philharmonic to play with me. He gonged me. I got a standing ovation and went outside, set up real quick and busked for everyone leaving. Then I went back to my camp at Occupy Vancouver, and finished my album. I was hitching between Olympia, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo on a weekly basis playing at Farmer’s Markets and Occupy Stages all over.
